NRM Now The Largest, Most Successful IVF Program In Vermont
Great things have been happening at NRM! In the year and a half since NRM opened, we have helped shepherd over 260 new lives into the world.
To put that in perspective, this equals well over 10% of the births in Chittenden County in a year, and about 4.2% of Vermont births in 2014. It is a wonderful feeling to help our patients and watch Vermont grow!
In the last two months of 2014, we did 26 IVF cycles, with a 47% live birth rate (per cycle start) in patients 37 years of age or younger. In 2015, we completed an additional 178 IVF cycles. We are very pleased with our success rates for both fresh and frozen cycles, which will be published through SART in 2017. Based on these numbers, we are now the largest, most successful IVF program in Vermont.
We have also performed 600 intrauterine inseminations, with a 15% success rate using fresh samples, and a 21% success rate from frozen sperm. These success rates are far above published national averages.
Factors contributing to these excellent success rates are the experience of our personnel and our next generation laboratory. Our three board-certified, nationally-recognized Reproductive Endocrinologists have over 50 years of combined practice experience in reproductive medicine. Our embryologists have 58 years, and our nurses 38 years. We also have state-of-the-art incubators and embryo micromanipulation equipment. We are the only IVF lab in Vermont with laser biopsy as well as a sophisticated LifeAire air purification system to ensure optimal embryo development.
Our laboratory is certified by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and by the federal government through CLIA, as a high complexity lab. We are registered and compliant with the FDA and members of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART). These certifications ensure that the excellent care we give our patients is always subject to continuous and rigorous quality control.
